Genius is probably one of the greatest gifts that God can bestow upon any of us. But with great power comes great responsibility. Responsibility to use your Genius to try to help improve the world around you. I use my own Genius to bring the news of the world to you, the good men, women, and Children that rely upon me and the Daily Bugle for your dose of truth every morning. But the truth I reveal today is one that pains my heart even as it heals Tony Stark's heart.
As many people probably noticed on the news yesterday, there was a lot of talk about Tony Stark's new heart that he created for himself. When it was just an artificial heart to save the lives of Mr. And Mrs. Joe Nobody, it was a minor project that could wait a few years while Stark worked on more pressing inventions... like perhaps pants with massaging seats for him to wear or a woman's bikini that could turn transparent when subjected to ultraviolet light. The needs of Heart patients all over the world could wait until after his next drink or next fling with some swimsuit model floozie. Only when it was something that affected HIM did it become something worthy of his notice and something he invented incredibly quickly. Just how many lives could have been saved every year if Tony Stark had used his Genius for the greater good rather than his own selfish whims. And he's not alone in the club of the Selfish Scientists. Hunger, Poverty, Homelessness, Disease... Who knows what ills of mankind could be solved if only geniuses like Reed Richard, Henry Pym, Hank McCoy, or Simon Williams would put their minds to the tasks rather than their own petty delights and whims? How much better a world could this be if they worked on these problems rather than frivolities like buzzing the Daily Planet building in their latest aircraft pretending to be aliens? I think it's time that we jointly did something to make these Geniuses realize the world is not just their plaything, but something they have a duty in improving as well.
Humbly Yours. Jolly Jonah Jameson, Champion of the Downtrodden
